Autumnal greetings! Just as spring once sprang, fall has now fallen; leaves are dropping, nights are drawing in and, to add to the festivities, a new issue of ‘A Dave in The Life’ falls into your inbox! Albeit about 4 months late as I’ve utterly failed my goal of posting on here once a month. However, I have been preoccupied and come bearing nuggets of good news! Please read on, dear reader…
The past few months have been a real rollercoaster. A mixture of hard work, fun things, and less fun things. I had a string of small misfortunes over the summer including a drunken calamity resulting in a broken rib, catching several bugs and colds, and getting Covid for a second time, days before my birthday. But despite this, there has been plenty of nice things too including going to Green Man festival, flying to Lisbon to watch blink-182, and recently spending a long weekend in the Lake District. Anyway, onto the main headlines!
ALBUM COMPLETE
I have now finally finished an album I started writing in 2018 and have been recording since 2020. Last month I travelled up to my birthplace of Glasgow to get the album mixed, and just last week the final masters of the album were complete. Making this album was a strange journey but lots of lovely people have helped me with it over the past couple of years and I’m very happy with how it’s all come together. This album will mark the beginning of a new project with a new name and I cannot wait to share it with you next year and play these songs live.
EP RELEASE
Continuing from above, I’ve been entirely pre-occupied with finishing the album and completely forgot to release the full acoustic version of my EP ‘Home, Come Home’. So, the EP will be coming out this Friday the 10th of November, almost exactly 2 years after I released the original version. You can pre-save the EP here if you like so you won’t forget to listen to it when it’s released. You can also buy a tote bag here from my Bandcamp page with the EP artwork on. They are very premium bags and currently only £10 which is a total bargain! So get involved.
NEW NOVO DATES
I had an amazing time playing a very special show at All Points East festival back in August with Novo Amor. In just over a week I’m back on the road with them, touring in China, Singapore, and Australia. I cannot wait to visit and explore these very exciting places!
There’s also lots more shows in the new year with a new UK/Europe tour just announced for the spring. All tour dates and ticket links can be found on the website here: novoamor.co.uk/tour. Hope to see you at a show soon!
AND JUST LIKE THAT…
Another issue comes to an end. A real bumper edition to make up for such a long intermission. I will be back with a 2023 round-up of sorts either the end of this year or in January 2024. Either way, see you in the future!
Now, please enjoy the extra-long ‘Cultural Highlights’ section, featuring all my favourite arty things from the past four months! Be good and take care.
DJH.
